The Angel Hotel dates back to the 16th century, and is ideally located in the heart of the main high street of Helston, famous for it's Flora Day and Furry Dance held in early May. The town is full of atmosphere and character, and many love browsing in the quaint shops or strolling in the parks.
Offering 13 double bedrooms, the hotel is served by a superb lounge and bar, (once an open courtyard) featuring the original 40ft well at the centre, and giant granite hearths lit in the winter months. The restaurant and private bar can be used for private functions, as well as the fabulous ballroom and bar with impressive high ceilings and minstrel's gallery.
The Angel Hotel has secure parking available within the grounds, and your car, or local buses or taxies could take you to one of the many attractions within a short distance. The hotel is close to so many spectacular beaches, seaside villages and coastal walks as Helston is ideally placed for easy access to the north or the south coast of west Cornwall. Situated only three miles from the sea; two miles from the fascinating Poldark Mine; and just one mile from the kids' favourite attraction, Flambards Theme Park, there is plenty to see and do for all age groups. You can easily visit the towns of St. Ives, Penzance, Hayle, Falmouth and Truro, all known for their charms and scenery.
An a la carte menu, afternoon teas and traditional bar meals are served in the restaurant or lounge. Families and larger groups are very welcome. The Angel Hotel offers complete services for wedding parties, meetings or banquets for up to 150 guests.
A Little History..
Local legend tells of the story of the devil fighting with St Michael above the skies of west Cornwall and the devil sending a great stone to the ground. This stone (which may have been a meteorite) landed behind the site of our hotel and The Angel Hotel is said to have been built from blocks hewn from it.
The Angel Hotel was once the town house of Lord Sidney Godolphin who was First Minister to three Monarchs and reputed to be one of the finest politicians in British history. Thereafter, it became a noted coaching inn and has been trading for over 250 years. It has recently been refurbished and is under new management who are also responsible for two other historic hotels: The Union Hotel, Penzance and The White Hart, Hayle.
Service at it's best in a relaxed and warm atmosphere...
